Matu benefits greatly from its address. Strip away the prestige of the location, and it is difficult to imagine the restaurant generating the same level of demand. For a place that can easily reach $300 per person, the gap between ambition and execution becomes noticeable almost immediately. Flaws That Are Difficult to Overlook •Weak conceptual identity: The grass-fed Wagyu narrative feels diluted. Guests appear to come because the restaurant is well located and reliable—not because the concept is powerful or memorable. •Lack of fine-dining discipline: Cutlery wrapped in napkins, visible stac

Stopped by on a whim after an appointment in Beverly Hills. It was Thursday around 5pm, but the place was already packed. Asked to be seated at the bar so we can try the cheesesteak. Front desk was very pleasant and helpful, giving up an approximate wait time of 10-15 mins which was spot on. Service at the bar was great and loved that you can order from the full menu. We don’t get out this far west often, so we ordered the Matū dinner which is a minimum of two persons and the cheesesteak. First the cheesesteak. The hype is real. From the toasted bread, quality of the meat and cheese and I love

-2 stars for forced 18% tip. I normally tip 20-25% for great service so you just screwed your crew out of 2-7% more money. Ordered Philly Cheesesteak from the bar. It was good. Meat was fantastic but poblano pepper overpowered the flavor of meat. Fresh potato chips were very good. Food and service were 5 stars. But forcing tips on your customers removes incentive from your crew to provide great service. I was lucky and got great service anyhow.

Our meal at Matu in Beverly Hills was outstanding and truly memorable. We eat halal, and it was great to discover that Matu serves exclusively halal, grass-fed First Light Farms Wagyu beef from New Zealand. We ordered the ribeye, New York strip, fries, Japanese Caesar, and skewers. Every steak was cooked perfectly - juicy, tender, and richly flavorful. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned, the Japanese Caesar was fresh and delicious, and the skewers were my wife’s favorite and added an extra savory touch. The restaurant’s atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it ideal for a relaxing nigh
