3.5 stars — Harumi Sushi (Cupertino) Harumi Sushi in Cupertino offers fresh-looking nigiri and some creative rolls, but the overall experience landed in average territory for me. The assorted sashimi/nigiri plate had decent scallops, salmon, and white fish — clean and properly cut but nothing that really wowed in flavor. The crunchy fried roll with spicy tuna or similar filling, cheese sauce, and unagi drizzle was fun and textural, though a bit heavy and messy once cut into. Have now been to Harumi 6 times. Such caring staff. Wonderful food. Fresh, beautiful and delicious. My favorites are the Sunomono Salad with 🐙 Octopus. Miso soup is so rich and delicious. And the assorted sashimi.

Funny enough, this strip mall sushi is better than any of the high end sushi restaurants we have in Dallas. I was genuinely unaware how fresh and simple sushi could be, but the high grade of fish here really opened my eyes to what the dishes are supposed to taste like. And it was well priced too! I’d make the whole trip again just to eat here.
