We had a great Father's Day breakfast at the Flying Biscuit with a party of 8. Even on a busy holiday, we were seated in less than 15 minutes. Our food came out quickly, hot, and was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff did a great job taking care of our larger group. The only downside was a few persistent flies that apparently decided our table was their personal NASCAR track. It was a bit distracting, but everything else—from the food to the service—was excellent.

I have always enjoyed the Flying Biscuit and was excited when they opened in Matthews a few years ago. The service and food are always great. I came for brunch on a Sunday morning around noon. There was about a 20 minute wait, but this is expected on a weekend morning. When we were seated we were greeted and our orders were taken quickly. Overall the service was quick. I have had many of the items in the menu and today I ordered the Hollywood omelette. It has vegetables and cheese in an egg white omelette, and it was served with grits and a biscuit. First time at this location and honestly was not impressed. Walked up around 10:45 am just to see what the wait time would be for 2 people. We were immediately sat which was great. Unfortunately, we waited for about 20 minutes before our waitress came out to take our order, and that's only because I asked if our waitress could come out and at least take our drink order. Absolutely loved the food. The chicken gravy on a homemade biscuit was some of the best gravy I've had. The biscuit was fresh and tasted like Mom's homemade. The creamy grits were right on. Added on a side of fresh tasty fruit. Couple all of this with a couple of scrambled eggs and my mouth was watering for more. The outdoor tables under roof allowed us to enjoy the weather without the sunburn. The server was extra helpful and attentive. This was a very good day. I'll be back.
