Mengin Café is a lovely spot right in the heart of Erlangen. We really enjoyed their Marzipan Torte — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. A great treat for marzipan lovers! It’s also a family-friendly café, with ice cream available for children, which is always a hit on warm days. One of the highlights is their beautiful patio seating, which offers a peaceful view overlooking the castle garden. It’s the perfect place to relax with coffee and cake while enjoying the greenery and calm atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

We went here for breakfast during our trip to austria and I honestly think this was the best choice we made. The staff was super friendly and looked very chique. I think the waiter didn't speak english that well, but our german was good enough to be able to say everything we needed and to understand him. When things got complicated he did try his best to speak english. The quality of the food was superb. They have very healthy options and it tastes amazing.
