The restaurant is right in Old Town, Munich. It has a great atmosphere and very good food. Yes it is for tourists like me. In fact, I sat at a group table right next to someone who went to the same high school as me in New York! I highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful experience at Augustiner am Platzl. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Munich’s old town, with a beautiful traditional Bavarian atmosphere that really adds to the experience. Even though we arrived just 10 minutes before the kitchen was closing, the staff welcomed us very warmly and made us feel completely comfortable. Our waitress was especially helpful and positive, she guided us in choosing the food, which we really appreciated. I enjoyed my lunch here. Service was very quick and also quiet cheerful. I ordered a garden salad 🥗 and it was absolutely gigantic. Also ordered 6 pork sausages with sauerkraut. Yes, entirely too much food...they warned me ;-) both dishes were very good. The salad in particular was quite nice and something my body was asking for after days of nothing but meats 😎 No complaints. I'd stop by here again for lunch if in the area.

2nd time in München for Oktoberfest and thankfully the brewer across the street was full as my family and I came here for lunch was so satisfied that we so! The pork knuckle was a perfect crisp on the outside and every bit of tender and fall apart on the inside. Potato dumplings were much better than other locations. And the beer, don’t get me started on the beer. We originally came in just for one but their brew was delicious we left with a couple more liters than we anticipated! This place definitely deserves not to be over looked !
