“Ate and drank at Cafe Mondegar in the afternoon of the Saturday 16th May 2026. We ordered butter chicken and garlic cheese naan and also had a beer with it. Food was really good and so was the beer! Place was busy but the food came quickly and was good. Must visit when visiting Colaba.”
“Good cozy place. Loved the meat dishes here. The masala papad was a disappointment. The staff is very cordial and accomodative. Prices are reasonable. Loved the juicy well done steak... Not a fan of their club sandwich. Parking not available..”

Moumita Roy★★★★★Visited Cafe Mondegar and it truly lives up to its reputation as one of Mumbai’s iconic cafés. The moment you step in, the vintage charm instantly stands out. The atmosphere is lively and nostalgic, with great music and a classic jukebox adding to the overall experience. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy a laid-back evening with friends over beer and comfort food. The menu is quite diverse, offering a mix of Indian, continental, and bar snacks. While the food is generally good and satisfying, the real highlight here is the ambience and vibe rather than gourmet dining. That said, the cafe can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours, and you might have to wait for a table. Service can also be a bit inconsistent at times, depending on how busy it is. Overall, Cafe Mondegar is less about fine dining and more about experiencing a slice of old Mumbai. Definitely worth visiting at least once—for the vibe, history, and memories it offers.
Vijetha MP★★★This cafe which serves beer better than coffee is located in the prime location of Colaba, next to the Colaba market. There was long queue of waiting for the table. I believe its the manager of Cafe Mondegar (huge, heavy voice) who was very impatient who kept shouting at the waiters in front of all the customers and pushed the people behind who were standing in the queue for the table coz his mood wasnt good. His attitude wasnt accepted at all.. Except for what i had to experience by him, rest all were fine. Chilli cheese toast and cutlet were delicious and must try. Burger was very average and mocha was poor without any proper chocolate proportion in it. Very noisy place.. i liked the Ambience but not during the weekend.
Kuldeep Sharma★★★★★Cafe Mondegar has such a lively and old-school vibe that makes the place memorable. The music, wall art and crowd create a fun atmosphere. Owner and staff are super cool 🔥 I Tried the burgers, Salads and pasta, everything was really good. Service was fast even during busy hours. Nice spot to chill after exploring Colaba.

Rijju★★★★One of the iconic and well-known spots in Mumbai, this place even has a jukebox, which is quite a rare sight these days. The ambience is great and the food is good as well. It can get quite crowded on weekends, and the seating tends to be a bit packed. That said, it’s still a fantastic place to hang out—especially if you enjoy a good collection of beers and great music.

Sonam Karani★★★★This is one of the oldest and most famous pubs in town, and the vibes definitely live up to the reputation. The ambience is lively, relaxed, and a nice place to hang out with friends. We tried a few items from the Chinese menu along with pizza. The food was okay—decent but nothing particularly exciting or memorable. But I definitely loved their personalized crockery which was very stylish and matching the cafe vibes. Although food items I tried there ,It didn’t quite match the expectations set by the place’s popularity. Overall, it’s a good spot if you’re going mainly for the atmosphere and vibe, but when it comes to food, it’s fairly average or just hyped.
Deeptiman Bhattacharya★★★★★Had a lovely time at Café Mondegar! The place truly carries an old-world charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a different era the moment you walk in. The vibe is relaxed, nostalgic, and very welcoming. A special mention to Siddhu, our steward, who was absolutely excellent — attentive, courteous, and genuinely warm throughout our visit. Also, the gentleman at the entrance managing the entry was extremely friendly and set a positive tone right from the start. While the food may not be something extraordinarily unique, it was definitely enjoyable and noticeably better than what we experienced at Leopold. The same goes for the overall vibe — far more pleasant and comfortable. What really stood out was the staff; they were well-behaved, cheerful, and seemed genuinely happy to have guests around. All in all, Café Mondegar offers a delightful experience driven by its charm, hospitality, and atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!
