Mocambo Cafe is one of those old-school restaurants in Fort that still carries a bit of its classic Bombay charm. On this visit, we ordered the Royal Chicken, King Solomon Steak (medium-rare), Brain Egg Fry, along with a portion of Pimento Rice. The King Solomon Steak was well cooked to medium-rare, just as requested, and was good. The Royal Chicken was rich and flavourful, with well-cooked chicken in a creamy gravy, although the tomato base came through slightly tangier than expected. It was still one of the highlights of the meal. The Brain Egg Fry was good as well, with a nicely spiced onion and masala mix. Portion-wise, I did feel the need to order additional rice (Pimento Rice) to go along with the Royal Chicken, as the accompanying portion was quite limited. The ambience is fairly simple and leans more towards a functional, old-style restaurant setting rather than anything particularly modern or upscale. This unique Cafe in Fort is famous for Italian dishes. We tried Farmers Fresh Lasagne which I found average as it was way to Creamy and cheesy. Chinese Friess was good but could have been better. Quarter Pound Mutton Burger was really good for the price.
