I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s small, situated beautifully in the center of historical Delft, and the atmosphere inside is very nice. What’s even better is the food. Simply phenomenal. We really enjoyed our yakitori, fish and gambas. The charcoal grill gives a beautiful flavor and the restaurant uses good quality charcoal, so it’s not smoky inside. The service was at times a bit on the slower side, but as the restaurant operates with a limited amount of very well trained and friendly personnel, it isn’t a bother. Truly a little gem and worth coming back to.

I visited Charcoal in Delft last weekend, and unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The restaurant was completely packed, and even though we had a reservation, our table was extremely tight. It was uncomfortable to move — guests from other tables trying to pass by or go to the restroom had no space to navigate. Another inconvenience was the lack of a coatrack. In the Netherlands, you can never rely on the weather, and that day it was raining heavily.
