I'm always looking for the eatery that is a little bit tucked away and takes a bit more of an effort to walk up to, and Pateo rewarded us this afternoon. We were extremely thirsty and polished off three pints of lovely cold Super Bock between us. The Chicken salad was very well presented & the portion was ample. Now, although the cod with peppers, bread and lemon mayonnaise came on a slightly smaller plate, it did not disappoint with flavour and the serving was more than enough to eat at lunch. I first came for just a drink. Then I ordered a small snack. And in the end, I stayed for two hours and had a full lunch! The service is very attentive — they ask thoughtful questions about your preferences (do you prefer hard or soft cheese, red wine that is smooth or more complex, would you rather have salad instead of fries or fries with a side salad?) and guide you through the menu. As a result, I was served exactly the things I truly enjoy. Excellent food, wonderful attention to detail, and a calm, relaxing place to savour a meal. Highly recommended.

The first restaurant that actually welcomed us in during our day in Evora. We stumbled upon this one after several other restaurants completely ignored us - not sure what that was about. The courtyard is a really pleasant area to rest for lunch and our waitress was very friendly. We had the Iberian Pluma Pork & the “Hunk of Steak” - which were both very nice and really well cooked. It’s a little expensive, but I think that’s potentially true of Evora’s restaurants in general.
