We were passing through Badajoz on the way to Seville, and I found this restaurant. They were almost entirely booked, but managed to find a table for us. The food was great, and one of the highlights of our food experience in Spain overall. The woman who served us did her best to be gracious despite the language barrier. It definitely felt like a local dining spot. If I ever pass through Badajoz again, I will book a table and dine there again.

One restaurant where it was worth reading the reviews and booking, as it's out of the centre and you’re unlikely to wander by, and, if you did, you’d just see a house largely hidden behind tall hedges. Between the two is a small but very nice terrace – be sure to book if the weather is good. The food is excellent quality, though in our case the service was a bit off – one of us had two courses, the other only one, and their main arrived at the same time as my starter, meaning it was cold by the time I had eaten (no offer to take it away and reheat it).
