Dining at Mesón de Cándido was one of the highlights of our visit to Segovia. The location, right in front of the iconic Roman Aqueduct, is absolutely breathtaking and adds to the overall experience. The food was outstanding and truly showcased the rich culinary traditions of the region. We ordered a whole baby pig for our table of 6. Had the whole ceremony and smashing of plate for a dramatic presentation. Started with jamon before the baby pig was presented. Must go to restaurant and meal when visiting beautiful Sergovia. In summer opt to sit outside.

Despite the good service and historical ambience, we won’t be back to this restaurant. We started off absolutely impressed by the truffle tortilla which had a deliciously savory flavor and devoured it. Since it was the start of the meal, we were very much looking to the main course. Unfortunately, this is where things fell absolutely flat. The cochinillo, which is supposedly the signature dish, was gamey and the skin was inedible. That offputting smell of pork (needs to be cooked properly to get that out) was very present and the meat was bland. As far as the solomillo, despite being tender
