I have lived in Bangor for 21 years, how have I never eaten here before? I was born in NI and raised in Durban, South Africa, which has a large Indian population which is where I developed a love for the cuisine. I ordered lamb curry tonight and it took me right back to Durban and actually brought tears to my eyes. The food was outstanding and the flavours were incredible. My mouth was salivating even after we had left. I will definitely be back as this has just become my favourite restaurant. Even the cheesecake at the end was a flavourful event!!!! Tonight I go to sleep a happy woman!

Forget everything else the Bokhara is officially the MVP of Bangor. I went in hungry and left wondering if I’d ever need to eat again. ​The food is absolutely elite. The flavours hit harder than a Monday morning alarm. Everything was so good I nearly asked for a straw to finish the sauce. ​The spice is perfectly balanced. It gave me that nice glow without making me want to call the fire brigade. ​The staff are legends. Super fast, super friendly, and they didn’t judge me for how many poppadoms I demolished. On our visit to Bangor we tried this restaurant, all food here is Halal, it is at street corner and on 1st floor with no accessibility option, we parked our buggy downstairs and went up. The environment is good, it can become busy depending on the day and time so on busy days booking might be required. We didn't as it was not extremely busy. Best Indian restaurant in Northern Ireland. Highly recommend. We had the Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi and Chicken Rogan. Both fabulous - beautifully cooked and just the right level of spice. Service very friendly and welcoming. Overall, can’t recommend this place enough. If you don’t know where to go out for dinner - just come here ☺️☺️☺️
