Ive just been here with my 3 small children for a meal. I always feel uncomfortable taking my children out anyway for meals because they find it hard to sit at a table still. Anyway......my 1 year old at the highchair threw some chips on the floor. The older lady that is always working at the bideford brewers fayre with brown hair, gave me a brush and said "do you mind cleaning this before they get trod in" also not to mention we hadn't even finished our meal yet and was waiting on desert. We wanted to eat outside as we have a little dog. We were told we couldn't even though I said I was happy to carry our plates out and back in again after we'd finished. The barman was quite rude and unfriendly. The guy serving the carvery was lovely and gave us a good service. Food was ok. Not the best but not the worst.

Unfortunately having to edit my 5 star review after the awful service or lack off should I say. Had a table booked for 1pm. Arrived just after 1 waited about 10mins. 2 staff members at the bar saw we was there but chose to ignore us. Eventually we went up to the bar to complain, was told they would get their manager, 5 minutes later still no show from anyone. Ended up leaving and going somewhere else!!!. Original review- 2 years ago: "Amazing Food and quality of service. Highly recommended. Staff are very polite and helpful. The food menu is outstanding. Great range of different options."

Visited yesterday, we were looking for somewhere for a relaxed family (2 adults and 3 children) meal with a decent sized menu and this seemed to fit the bill. On arrival we waited for a good 10 minutes at the "wait to be seated podium" but no one arrived so we found a table and seated ourselves - you order at the bar and just give your table number so assumed this was ok. Once seated and browsing the menu a waitress came over and asked who had seated us, when I explained we had seated ourselves as there was no one around after waiting for quite a while but that we did have a booking for 5:15pm
