An impromptu lunch out in Cheltenham today took us to the amazing @themahalrestaurant .These beautiful works of art also tasted incredible. The ambience and warmness of the wonderful staff must also be mentioned. Such a gem tucked away in Montpellier, nothing was too much trouble and the food all homemade with intricate touches of decoration had to be savoured with each and every spice having it's own chance to be sensed on the pallette. Absolutely incredible experience at the Mahal. There were two of us celebrating a birthday - which we didn't specify to the staff. But towards the end they asked if we are here for a special occasion and the brought over a lovely card signed by staff and a cake on the house! We had 5 course meal with non alcoholic pairings. Each course was delicious, so pretty and the drink pairings actually worked perfectly. The staff were very kind to explain how it works and told us about each course in detail as well. More than just a meal! The combination of spices & aromas transport you to Indian. Each dish was fresh, rich and well balanced. Dishes with meat were tender and juicy, fish dishes cooked perfectly and the vegetarian dishes packed full of flavour. Everything was beautifully presented. The restaurant itself is modern with elegant decor. The service was friendly and attentive.
