fran palmer★★★★★An impromptu lunch out in Cheltenham today took us to the amazing @themahalrestaurant .These beautiful works of art also tasted incredible. The ambience and warmness of the wonderful staff must also be mentioned. Such a gem tucked away in Montpellier, nothing was too much trouble and the food all homemade with intricate touches of decoration had to be savoured with each and every spice having it's own chance to be sensed on the pallette. We had the lunch time menu which was very reasonably priced and had something for all tastes. We will definitely be returning for one of the tasting menus whi

But towards the end they asked if we are here for a special occasion and the brought over a lovely card signed by staff and a cake on the house! We had 5 course meal with non alcoholic pairings. Each course was delicious, so pretty and the drink pairings actually worked perfectly. The staff were very kind to explain how it works and told us about each course in detail as well. Dishes with meat were tender and juicy, fish dishes cooked perfectly and the vegetarian dishes packed full of flavour. Everything was beautifully presented. The restaurant itself is modern with elegant decor. The service was friendly and attentive.
