This is a great little hidden gem serving homemade delicious food. I had freshly made meat & potato pie with mash, cauliflower, broccoli & gravy for £7. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat it all as it was a very generous portion. This is a no frills cafe with fantastic, warm, friendly service & great hygiene. My only concern is the location is tucked away down the theatre alley at the bottom of the market so visitors don't know it's there. If your looking for excellent, cheap food it's definitely worth making the effort to find this place

What a little gem this place is. Popped in this weekend looking for somewhere cheap, cheerful and kind friendly for a quick lunch while exploring Chesterfield and struck gold with this place. Proper old fashioned cafe that offers tremendous value for money and good honest service. Wife and I both had jacket spuds and tea, the kids had sandwiches and fruit juice. Just over £20 for all 4 of us and every mouthful was lovely, freshly prepared and good quality, who could ask for more? Looking for a dog friendly cafe for a pot of tea , and stumbled across Woodys . We were welcomed warmly by Teresa , and seated promptly. We had a pot of tea for two , Breakfast, and full breakfast ( along with a sausage for @baxter_spanner ). Breakfast was cooked to order , and piping hot when served . Our pot of tea was refilled , and service was excellent. We were made very welcome by Teresa - thank you 🙏. My dog was also made very welcome , and received a sausage . This café has been around a long time and its old-style look and feel may mean it gets overlooked amongst all the established chains and trendy up-and-coming food and drink places in Chesterfield.
