As it was early Saturday afternoon my friend and I were the only punters! I prefer the quiet so suited me. Drink was nice, typical West End price. Didn't have any food.

Dropped in for a couple of drinks on our way to our hotel and the place was buzzing. Really great vibe going in here and whilst it was pretty full it was still easy to get a drink. Great local pub.

Really poor today. Arrived just before opening time. Checked with barman on opening time and he said 5 mins. Left us standing outside in freezing temperature and then was still not open 10 mins later even though he knew we were waiting outside. Went to the Hebrides instead which was very welcoming by comparison.

Warm and comfortable old pub a short stroll from the Old Town. Really great range of beer and well served. Excellent pint of a classic pale ale, Scapa Special, from the Swannay Brewery on Orkney. Very quiet at lunchtime, strangely, not sure where everyone was.
