Just paid £12 for a standard haddock supper. Looked like half a fish, only 130g of fish including its batter. Very Poor value. Not visited for a while but won't be back in a hurry.

Overall, it's a really good chippy, but service is terrible. Visited Ashvale many times, not my first choice for fish and chips in Elgin. Not because the food is an issue, but the service is absolutely shite. Every time I visit, I'm normally ignored and always a que waiting. Took me a few times to establish why, and its because they will always prioritise online orders over customers in the shop, My previous 2 visit I have walked out after waiting 15 minutes and I wasn't the only one. This time, I visited at lunchtime, and it was naturally quiet and therefore got served pretty quickly. Th

The Ashvale is a shadow of its former glory. My experience was based on the snapshot in time I visited. It might not always be like this but overall it was disappointing. I always strive to be balanced therefore I will list positives first •plenty of parking •seated quickly •our server was really nice •not a long wait on food. Things that weren’t so good •I’m not sure the price we paid reflects the quality/portion size. •my partner asked for water and he didn’t get any •we overheard tables getting wrong orders •there was no atmosphere, it was really quiet, no music, no ambience. Fish was ok but not as fresh as I've had here before and not as fresh as I've eaten in other fish and chips shops. Lots of the chips were partly grey with a chemical aroma that suggested they had been prepared for some. The garden peas were almost lime green....so not freshly cooked.. Disappointed so won't be back.
