Decided on an impromptu dinner date and found ourselves at The A Bar and we will 100% be returning. The food was fantastic, the steak and chips were to die for and the chips especially were some of the best I’ve ever tasted! Superb service, great atmosphere and well priced given the location. Top drawer, can’t wait to be back!

I stopped by The A Bar Bistro whilst in Portsmouth and had a very enjoyable meal with some friends. The restaurant was busy and buzzy on a Saturday evening, yet the staff were still extremely friendly and attentive, ensuring we were well looked after. The food was fantastic; we started by sharing some cold meats and other small plates, and for the main course, I had the pork. It was absolutely impeccable - it melted in the mouth, and the chips were amazing too. The whole meal was excellent. The wine list is also fantastic and, I felt, it was very well-priced. I would 100% visit The A Bar Bis

Had an amazing meal here. It can feel a bit posh when you are first coming in, but it's actually quite casual - you won't feel out of place if you are dressed normally. I liked their music selection as well, and the music wasn't too loud. They have a dedicated gluten free menu. I will definitely be coming back here!

We had dinner here as a small group without a reservation, so we were glad we were able to get a table. The fish and chips were wonderful, but what really hit the spot for me was the dessert. We had requested to separate the alcoholic ice cream in a different bowl for one of the desserts, as we had someone in our party who couldn't medically take alcohol. And although the waiter first denied our request (which I have to admit was a little strange), after some time he kindly took our request. All in all a great meal!
