Jon Wilcox★★★★★I went to uni in York in 2010-2013, and the Habit was always a fave spot for us for four reasons: friendly, chilled vibe; live music (a double act called Two Bob was always our favourite); small rooftop bar with views of the Minster (ideal suntrap); and decent selection of ales. I went again on 28 May 2026, and it was as good as I remember. They had Simon Snaize playing, and honestly he was amazing. As usual, a friendly vibe, with good beer. A must on anyone's York pub crawl list, especially if they want to see live music in a cosy spot!

Richard Bracknellin played on 10 April and was excellent and prompted me to write this review. The cafe bar has a relaxed vibe and the prices are reasonable. It’s definitely not sophisticated but that’s part of its charm!
Jo★★★Called here for a drink as had been told of the roof top seating area. It was nice. I wasn’t blown away as it though as could have done with a clean/ spruce up! You could see the Minster over the wall. Bar staff very friendly. Overall nice to sit out and up.
