The food and service are actually really good. My only dislike is that the place is a smoker friendly business so it smells like stale cigarettes. I havent smoked in almost 9 years so I really dont like the smell but taste and quality the food shined through regardless. Chicken fried steak is why I went. It was pretty good. Since it was my cheat day I had 2 pieces of pie, chocolate and coconut. Both delicious!!! If they got the cigarette smell out of the place it would probably be near full capacity of clientele all the time.

OMG I hadn't been here in a long while it looks so nice, I love the new signs. The restaurant was clean and the wonderful lady that was working the counter was so sweet! I didn’t catch her name, but Her name tag said "I’m deaf". She had such a beautiful vibe about her and made us feel welcomed. My husband ordered 2 orders of the plain wings and I had biscuits and gravy 10/10! Yes the smoke was a bit much, but that's why we ordered it to go. Me and my wife and 3 daughters were traveling through Amarillo and had been told by friends that cattlemen's cafe was a great place to eat and had lots of history and should be seen. We had a horrible experience there. When we arrived we set in a booth and my wife immediately found a dead roach in her seat. My wife and 2 oldest daughters 4 and 6 we're setting on one side of the booth while me and our 9 month old were on the other side. She was in a carrier setting beside me. I was passing through Amarillo and needed a place to eat early that morning. Wanted to try something local. This place is like a through back to a 70s Cafe, mainly becuase they allow smoking while you eat. It was a cool dive. I would go back.
