Stopped by the Shake Shack at Hillsdale with a friend after spending the day around Silicon Valley and talking through plans for our next trip. I know Shake Shack started in New York, but honestly this San Mateo location is such a good one. It feels bright and relaxed, and the patio is perfect when the weather is nice. The Hillsdale location has both indoor and outdoor seating, so it’s an easy stop while shopping or hanging around the area. Don’t expect a shake when it is busy. Ordered multiple times and every time I get a shake, it has been sitting out by the warming lights and is almost completely melted. It is more sweetened flavored milk with the smallest bit of shake on top. The burgers and fries are great.

We ordered via the kiosk and had our food delivered to our table. Everything was pretty contactless and hassle free. We ordered 2 Shacks Burger and 1 Bacon Cheeseburger, 1 fries and one float root beer. The food was good, but the drink was a bit under the par. Otherwise, everything was good. Not usually a fast food person but sometimes craves a burger. This Shake Shack location is conveniently located across Apple Store with both inside and outside seating. Outside seating is covered and looks out to a pleasant courtyard. Inside seatings are mostly booths with big windows. Compared to other burger joints like In n Out, Habit Burger, and Super Duper, I give Shake Shack double stack a 9.5/10. Very beefy and juicy. Hits the spot. I also love their flat top dogs.
