We've been hearing about Café du Monde before even setting foot in Louisiana. From family reccomendations to YouTube videos talking about how good the beignets are at this spot, including the chicory coffee; we had it on our itinerary of places to try. Thus it was one heck of a surprise as we landed in New Orleans got off the airplane and was greeted witha Café du Monde right there at the airport. We decided the baggage claim can wait as we stepped into line. Luckily there was only one person ahead of us so we were able to quickly order the famous chicory coffee and the traditional beignets. This review is based on this location only. It’s a walk up counter located inside the airport terminal. We needed one last beignet fix before leaving the Big Easy so we were thrilled to find this before catching our plane. Normally, Cafe Du Monde’s beignets are our favourites, a bit crunchy in the outside and soft in the middle. Unfortunately, the ones we received were already bagged when we ordered them, and they were cold. Beignets MUST be enjoyed warm. We’re thinking that perhaps because of the long line ups, maybe they try to stay ahead of the demand and bag them ahead, but in this case,

Came to New Orleans to celebrate my birthday and wanted to fully soak up the history, culture, and most importantly the food. Cafe Du Monde was an absolute must, and it did not disappoint. Haha. Beignets from Cafe du Monde (the original in the French Quarters) are yummy, and they are a good value. $4.53 for 3 beignets. It's a very affordable luxury. At the airport location, they sell 3 beignets for the same $4.53. So of course, we had to grab another 3 on our way out of town. Sadly, they are a much smaller version, by about 1/3 to 1/2 smaller. So they have echoes of the original beignets, but the fluffiness of the middle is barely there. Still a good fix though.
