I love old-timey like cafes mom and pop diners there's not very many like that where I'm from especially of that atmosphere the people are friendly everybody that came in like they all knew each other and they all treated each other like family they treated us like they knew us even though we live in Minnesota we were down in Iowa taking care of some family business I did a quick Google search for cafes in the area it led me right to Mason City to Cook's Cafe. Biscuits and gravy was good didn’t taste like all pepper . Eggs perfect cooked definitely need to check them out . Not a bad price and they are open for Thanksgiving she told us

We got breakfast and the pancakes were perfectly sized where you could actually eat them. The price looked like it was from 2005. Very affordable place! Would highly recommend!

Took 45 minutes to get simple breakfasts which unfortunately gave us time to listen to the local’s interactions, discussions of neighbor’s problems, or listen to one patron’s phone videos 😖 Really emphasize supporting local businesses, but just can’t say this one is worth the effort. Food was ok, but standard diner fare. Poor cook in the kitchen working on too small of a stove. Leave it for the locals…
