I am a frequent diner at the Portage Mi Bar and Grille and have never had any complaints or issues. A large order was placed a week ago and while Kirstin the Manager provided excellent service, there were a couple of small issues with the order. I contacted Austin the Manager, courteous. He was sincere and actually thanked me for the feedback. He then ensured that we would be receiving a gift certificate. I’m very disappointed with my recent experience. I specifically requested a quiet rear corner booth so I could enjoy a late working dinner while using my laptop. I was initially seated alone in the upper section, which seemed perfect for a peaceful meal and some focused work. About 30 minutes later, the hostess seated four college-aged guys directly in the booth next to me, despite there being plenty of empty booths available throughout the area. We came in with our grandson. He wanted pizza and mozarella sticks. The pizza was soggy and he did not eat it our waitress ask if everything was okay. We waited 25 minutes for our food. My burger was in pieces. Salad was fine. It was not busy when we came in people after us was waited on and got there food. Poor and we will not be back

I’ll be honest I’m not a huge fan of chain places, but this is where my mom want to eat for Christmas dinner. The food was OK, but the reason I felt compelled to leave a review was that the service was great. I understand the service industry is overworked, underpaid, etc, etc so when you get a good waitress or waiter, you can’t help but want to acknowledge them. We had a group of around 10 people and the drinks were never empty and the food came out pretty quick.
