A friend and I went to Loggins for lunch when the place we were planning to meet was closed, and we loved it! I've driven past Loggins for 45 years and always wanted to try it but never did. It's the oldest restaurant in Tyler—been there since 1949. Wow! The food was delicious, the service was helpful and kind, and the atmosphere was vintage and fun. We arrived around 11:00 and by noon the place was packed with mostly regular customers. The all-you-can-eat buffet was well stocked with wonderful choices, and all of the pies (at least ten different flavors) are homemade. I had liver and onions

Travelled to Tyler Texas on business and while out there I got the idea to look for the old school county buffet. I found Loggins. The reviews rated it as 4.5 and the menu seemed right up my alley. When I arrived and walked in there was a large crowd which made me feel good. The parking lot was full another good sign. After I sat down and ordered a water I walked to the buffet. It was smaller than expect but options where fish, spagethi, goulash, fried chicken, chicken fried steak and side. Old mom and pop type all you can eat buffet. Downhome country cooking. Different choices everyday, always 4 or 5 meats and even more veg choices. Really good enchiladas and charro beans! Good fried chicken, catfish, chicken fried steak, salad, soup, and really good desserts! Coconut pie, chess pie, chocolate pie, cobbler, several kinds of cake. Very popular at lunchtime, always plenty of food and nice waitstaff to serve you drinks etc...
