Was craving Japanese curry, and I’m so happy I found Furusato. Their curry was exactly what I wanted, and more. The staff is very welcoming, and the place is clean and bright. The boiled spinach starter (Hourensou Ohitashi) was smoky and delicious with tons of fish flakes. It’s actually quite a lot of spinach for one person. The chicken katsu curry came with miso soup and a cabbage salad. It was also quite a bit of food. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth when you eat at Furusato. The miso and the salad were great, but the curry was fantastic.  The chicken, rice, and curry all work well together. The curry is thick and flavorful, and there’s enough of it to really mix it with the rice and chicken. There’s a lot of great food on the Furusato menu, but I might have to order the curry again when I return.

It was Friday evening and we decided to have dinner with friends at Japanese restaurant, and as far one of us lived in Japan for long, he chose this place for us. We had 2 Japanese beers (very good), 16 warm sakes (they serve it 100ml each time) 3soups and other various dishes, you can see on the photos some of them. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like much, everything tasted good and we enjoyed the meals. If you are alone, you can take a a seat t=at the bar and have just soup, that will be more then enough for you )) the price for the soup varies 90-120k soum or 8-10usd. They have problems with waiters, as they couldn’t deliver warm sake by the time we finished the bottle, so we wasted some minutes, but according to the sake drinking philosophy (not my words), you should drink it without pause. The waiters also were not efficient enough and we had to ask for them few times. Although there weren’t many table busy, they weren’t able to do their best, or their best is not enough. Anyway

This just might be the best gunkan I had so far. Everything tasted as they should be, and more. Japanese tea could be skipped and the sides could be improved to match with the excellent quality of the raw fish itself, but these are all pet peeves once you devour a piece of your succulent gunkan and follow it with a refreshing ginger. Nothing really beats that feeling… Also, they just might have the best working staff ever, always so kind and professional. Music selection was on point as well. Yeah it is pretty expensive so I am not going to say it is a must go place, it will be out of budget for some, but the price is well worth it in this case, which is not something I can say for all expensive spots. Oh also, thank you for the dessert at the end! It was a nice touch to finish on a sweet note.

There is much to say about this restaurant, the cleanliness , how tasty all of the dishes were and how attentive the staff was but I’ll spare you the details, this restaurant would be regarded very high quality anywhere in the world. The Japanese chef takes care of each table separately and executes the dishes to miraculous perfection considering the local average. It’s truly something else to be able to eat at a place this nice in Tashkent. The photo of one of the complementary dishes is a great summarization of the whole experience. Please visit FURUSATO if you are fond of Japanese cuisine and are for whatever reason in Tashkent.
