A beautiful building and setting with lovely walks available immediately around the hotel, into the country park. The building is beautiful with lots of history, enormous bedrooms, very comfortable and cosy. It is a little tired in some places but this is reflected in its 3* status, but if you can look past this and recognise the enormity of what it would take to restore this building to its full splendor you can really appreciate it for what it is. Stayed here on the 31st January. Didn't expect much as it was quite reasonably priced. To be honest I was totally blown away by the value for money. The room was large and incredibly clean, not a spec of dust or hair anywhere. Real character and original features everywhere. Well stocked bar and fantastic staff, every one of then was exceptionally pleasant, polite and genuinely welcoming. Food was reasonably priced and of a decent standard. Attended a family function and stayed overnight. There were so many areas to sit and relax. Having the large, comfy easy chairs with the log fire was so very inviting. The bar staff and breakfast staff were very attentive, pleasant, and approachable. As for the Manager, Brenton, we found him very welcoming and accommodating. The stay would not have been the same without him. We thank you greatly. We absolutely loved our room and loved the old period building in such a beautiful setting.
