I live in Amsterdam, but have been staying in Highgate during a visit to London, and have come daily to this cafe to write in my journal. People who criticize the food or the baked goods must be very hard to please. I've tried several of the offerings, and they have all been great. The tea comes in large pots, well-insulated, so that it stays hot, and the tea (I've ordered Early Grey) is high quality. The espresso drinks are also excellent. Really mid. I got a matcha which cost me 5.80 and tasted like watery oat milk, asked for more matcha which cost me an extra 60p tasted even more mid like pond water went back again and got charged another £1 for more matcha and syrup. I’ve never had this problem at Gail’s before and never had to pay extra for extra matcha or anything in any other Gail’s. Ended up paying like 7.50 for what I normally get for a fiver. The girl I ordered with was really nice but the women making the drink was pretty rude.

The atmosphere was very nice and the service was great. It is a great place if you want to have a cosy friends gathering or do some work/study there. The standout was the selection in pastries that blew our expectations and the coffies were great.

I wanted to say thank you to the lovely lady who served me yesterday and was busy packing an Uber Eats order. I only had to wait a few moments and she apologised for the wait, it was no bother at all, but she then gave me my coffee on the house for being so understanding. It made my day and was so appreciated.
