Honestly one of the nicest little spots I've come across in Caversham. Its a cafe and bakery and it does both really well which isnt as common as you'd think. Some places try to do everything and end up being average at all of it. Not the case here. The croissants are something else. Properly flaky, buttery, the kind you have to stop yourself from ordering two of. You can tell they actually care about how things are made rather than just putting stuff out on a shelf. I wanted to share my disappointment with my recent visit. After a long walk, we ordered coffee and were immediately asked if we were okay with paper cups. This caught me off guard, especially since I noticed that other tables were being served their coffee in proper mugs. While I agreed at the time, it didn’t feel like a genuine choice given the inconsistency in service. The paper cup itself was also quite generic and didn’t even reflect your branding, which added to the feeling of being treated differently. Because of this, we didn’t fully enjoy or finish our coffee, despite it tasting fine.

My absolute go-to coffee place in Reading. I am not a huge Matcha drinker, but the one at the Collective is actually one I really enjoy. Their pastries are also very good. On sunny days, their garden is very pleasant.
