After 3.5 years, I found myself back in the area and knew I had to return—and I’m glad I did. Once again, the food and service did not disappoint. The staff were attentive and welcoming, and the service was spot on from start to finish. I love the authentic local pub atmosphere, which makes for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. This time I brought my wife along, and she thoroughly enjoyed the generous portion of fish and chips. It’s always nice when a place lives up to your memories, and this one certainly did. Looking forward to my next visit whenever I’m back in the area.

After a full day at work, I was in the mood for a pint and some food, looking at the ratings I decided on The Hoop and Grapes as it was close to my hotel and had good ratings. Im so happy i came here. I was thinking fish and chips but Ben recommended the Steak and Ale pie and I’m happy I took his recommendation, the pie was WOW! Savory and meaty! It came with carrots and potatoes and the most heavenly gravy! I was really impressed! I decided to try desert and Ben recommended the sticky pudding and again a hit! Who knew British food could be this good! This place is an A+ totally recommended. B

Great local find for pub food! Had the steak & ale pie which (delicious) and appreciated the accommodating staff and their recommendations. Gets crazy on weekends but snag a space and even if it’s not the dining area, you can get served. Shout out to Brian for the help! And they didn’t even mind me entertaining myself with a good book.

This pub near Aldgate is really lovely. We went there on a whim when we got stuck at Fenchurch Street with no trains. The team is great, and the food was delicious! I'd go back (not just when the trains ruin the evening!).
