Had to deduct one star because as we arrived early, we wanted to grab a drink at the bar. Sadly after sitting at the bar for almost 10 minutes, we had the misfortune of being "unserved" by the bartender directly in front of us. Initially, she said something and we mistook that for “what can I get you," but when my wife asked her for a gin & tonic, we got the response,"I’m not ready for you!" Suffice it to say, our table was ready before we ever got to order our drink. Strike one for sure. We were hoping this lousy service wasn’t going to be the trend for the evening. The atmosphere and vibes were great! I had the Leek & Potato Soup as a starter and it was perfect after a long day of travels. The waiter reccomended to me the Pressed Pork Belly and it was the best! So flavorful and paired nicely with the Parmesan Salad. I was able to get a table for 1 without a reservation on a Saturday night, i appreciated them for being able to squeeze me in. It was also a nice touch that they give you a pamphlet of the history of the building Only thing i wish they did better was ensuring I always had water. I had to repeatedly ask multiple times

We managed to get a table for brunch even although we did not book ahead :-) The team were all very friendly and our order was taken quickly. We enjoyed a delicious sweet potato hash topped with fried egg and a super bowl with poached egg & avocado. A lovely relaxing enviroment for brunch.

We had such a lovely afternoon tea here during our trip to Edinburgh. The food was genuinely really good, and we especially liked that there were lots of different menu options depending on dietary preferences. There were vegetarian, pescatarian and other choices, which made it feel very accommodating. We went for the vegetarian afternoon tea and the vegetarian haggis sandwich honestly surprised us in the best way possible because it was delicious. The rest of the food was great too and there was more than enough variety. The service also really stood out. Our waiter was so friendly and easy
