My husband and I were recommended to visit Grapes while waiting for our laundry, and we’re so glad we did. We had a few drinks and a great chat with Susi and Gordon i think i have hi name correct, who were incredibly welcoming and even let us taste a few whiskeys. We loved everything about it—the atmosphere was fantastic, and the locals were so kind and friendly (they definitely knew we weren’t from around there!). We were visiting from California in November 2025, and if you want a true feel for the south side of Edinburgh, this is the place to go. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you all f

A great little "spit and sawdust", down to earth boozer. Nothing classy but definitely a classic. A great pint served quickly at a good price. A few of Edinburghs auld worthies can be found drinking here. Cheap and cheerful - and also very handy for the Queens Hall next door. Give it a bash.

My friend and I had to do laundry and used the guy next door so while we waited we stopped in for a drink. We ended up going back a time or two! The locals were great (very welcoming to two tired americans), music was great, and the owner/manager was awesome! Prices allowed us to stick around for a few more. Honestly, it was our favorite bar from our 17 day trip through italy, scotland, northern ireland, and ireland. Very down to earth and made us feel right at home! Thankful to have found it! And if I ever find myself back in Edinburgh... I know where one of my first stops will be!
