Just a short walk from the castle, we stumbled across The Thistle Stop Cafe. We walked down the steps to a neat little underground cafe. The café had this neat flower wallpaper, a cool, textured ceiling, and simple, black tables. Some tables had chairs, some had a combination of chairs and booth seating. For our meals, I ordered a cheeseburger, and my wife got a “Bacon Toasty” (a simple sammich on a grilled roll). The meals both came with tortilla chips, and we also got an order of fries. Unfortunately, the food was pretty plain. The tortilla chips were like basic store-bought tortilla chips (

Brilliant Breakfast 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We had a wander and stumbled upon this tucked away, out of clear view cafe. Service was great, and the food (8 of us) came out pretty quick. Definitely a good breakfast. I opted for the Scottish Breakfast with added beans and hash browns... All of it was consumed 🤩 It was £15 for the breakfast. Access isn't good for wheelchair users. There's only one way in a and out, down and up some stairs. The toilet within would be a struggle also. Free WiFi 📶 available with the access code on the mirrors. Decent value and pukka service Thanks for hosting us

We went on a Sunday morning as we was walking up to the castle. We ordered 2 full breakfasts and 2 teas This was extremely disappointing to start i asked for my egg to be well cooked as I don't like a runny yoke sadly not to be. The toast was as thin as a credit card and the bacon must of been scared to sit in the pan as definitely not cooked. After all the pig has committed to the job so you may as well. 34 uk pounds for this well we all make mistakes and this was definitely one 1 The table was a testament to how small you can make things and still try to use it like it was designed.

The drinks were good. Not a huge selection, but they were a nice place for a rest. The indoor atmosphere wasn’t very good in the basement, but the outdoor patio was OK. There was just no view of the city or of the street. The view on the terrace was just to the back of other buildings.
