Bar Gernika is a fantastic, authentic Spanish Basque tapas bar with a great vibe. The Food & Drink: I stopped in for a quick bite and had their croquetas paired with a nice, light white wine. The food was delicious and exactly what you want from a traditional tapas spot. The Atmosphere: The energy here is excellent. It is cozy, welcoming, and a great place to relax and take in the local culture. Bottom Line: If you are exploring the Basque Block, this is a must-stop for authentic bites and a fantastic, laid-back atmosphere.

First time in Boise and thought I’d give Basque cuisine a try. Got the spicy lamb grinder and croquetas. I didn’t think this was anything all that spectacular. Wasn’t bad but also not great. But the servers were very friendly and I can see this being a neat place to hang out and grab drinks and some bites to eat.

Finding out that Boise I had a large Basque population was a very pleasant surprise! This place serves some traditional and some not so traditional Basque foods. The place was always full though while we were here and that says a lot about the place. Of course we had the corquettas and the lamb sliders, all of it good. Don't skip the traditional Spanish tortilla which had me missing Spain.
