During the lockdown it’s nice to treat yourself to a proper Sunday roast but not being able to go to a pub anymore it’s great that this pub now offers an online ordering service. This is the first time I’ve tried it and won’t be the last, excellent service. The Beef was perfection, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud, veg, nice meat gravy. I went for sticky toffee pudding for pudding. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday dinner delivered direct to my door.

Brad was super helpful in answering a lot of questions, and allowed us to pop by a few times to see the room. The room is beautiful and spacious which made it perfect for our wedding of about 100. We had 7 tables of 9 which was suggested by Brad and was the perfect amount as many of our guests stood by the bar or stayed in the courtyard which we had great access to. There was also disabled access/toilets if you came through the main bar. The bar was well stocked and the staff really friendly and helpful.

Built in 1650 it's Derby's largest remaining coaching Inn and was considered one of the grandest outside of London, the Tudor frontage was added in the early 1900s. At its peak it had over 50 rooms, multiple bars and restaurants, it's been a doctor's, court and even held prisoners in its cellar. Nowadays it's massively impressive and gives a real sense of Derby's fairly grand but sadly lost history.
