This was our third time eating here. My wife and I usually prefer larger sit-down restaurants when we go out with friends, but when it’s just the two of us wanting a cozy, affordable lunch, we often stop in here after our Saturday or Sunday morning activities. Today I had the Supreme Sampler and my wife had the shrimp gumbo. We enjoyed both very much, although I’d say the sampler was probably the better value. What really keeps bringing us back is the atmosphere and the way the place is run. This restaurant is extremely clean inside and out, brightly lit, comfortable, and surprisingly roomy

I used to eat here during my childhood in late 80s/early 90s and it hasn't changed much. This place is like an old school Long John Slivers with similar batter and crispes come with your fish order. The difference is LJS will make me violently vomit and has done this to me in the last 15 years, so they changed their recipe while Captain Ds has pretty much remained the same. The manager or supervisor at the register was polite and checked to see if I needed additional condiments and refills. Have not been to a Captain Ds 8 or more years. OUTSTANDING manager told me change supplier not wild caught in Alaska. Clean taste.. all sides great. They had it out to me and my Irish friend super quick. Waitress very nice and smiled at friends accent or my beard.. Manager was very friendly...will be back. 5.99 2 LARGE fillets..sides...better than McDonald's next door.

Over the decades, I have eaten at Captain D's across the country, some good, some bad - but this particular one was EXCELLENT! I always get the deluxe combo platter with the crab, and add stuff to the order. In over 40 years, something was always greasy, fries not crispy, something not so great. Not the case here. Clean oil, freshly made - everything was exactly as anticipated. The owner keeps a very clean restaurant, and will come out and ask how the food is, if you need anything, as well as his staff.
