Simple, comforting pub food Authentic local pub serving traditional British food. The Black Bull feels like the kind of place where locals come to watch sports over a pint and enjoy a hearty meal. We had a Cumberland sausage with mashed potatoes, peas, and thick gravy. We also shared a Shepherd’s pie with vegetables. The food was classic comfort food: simple, hearty, and well prepared without trying to be anything extraordinary. The staff were extremely friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Booked in for 19:30 to watch a match, and they gave us a very good seat in clear view of the telly. When requested to have the match on, they immediately switched the channel. Table service was very good, stocked with plenty of drinks, and the food was excellent, with starters, main and desert all being a hit. Very nice touch having sanitary products in the bathroom. Special shoutout to the waiter Andrew, who served us and kept us entertained for the night - some legend! Would definitely go again if visiting Edinburgh

popped in on a trip to edinburgh last weekend, me and my friend ordered cocktails (which were delicious!!!!) & got some nibbles to share, food was tasty & quick! place was spotlessly clean & friendly staff! such a cozy pub! will definitely return when back in edinburgh again!!!❤️
