Disappointed. I got in and got sat down, and asked for a couple of coffees and the menus. The coffees duly arrived, which were lovely, as did other people. They had their orders taken, we didn't. Indeed, it took fully half an hour to get our breakfast and I was watching the people came in after us. They were finishing theirs before we even got ours. My wife had very nice egg, salmon and avacado, but, my fry up was just... chewey. It was OK, but I'd sooner have stayed home and made it myself. I had breakfast at The Old Spence on my fist adventure to Leith. I ordered the avocado Benedict toast. The toast was a bit overdone and slightly burned; and it wasn’t mentioned or replaced, which was a small letdown. That said, I still ate it in the end because it was tasty and I was hungry! The place itself is really cozy, with a lovely curbside corner spot on the main street in Leith. I sat by the window and enjoyed watching people walk by in the rain, which it had a really warm, local atmosphere. Overall, a charming little place that could pay a bit more attention to detail.

Had a delicious breakfast at the old spence. I had the freshly squeezed orange juice, a latte, the Korean style breakfast with avocado, kimchi and poached eggs on it. This is the third time I’ve had it and it never disappoints! I then had a white chocolate brownie to finish. The cafe maintains lovely peaceful space whilst being busy at the same time. All staff are very attentive and service was fast. 10/10
