Hannah★★I’ve been meaning to try this place for some time & I wanted to like it, but I didn’t have the best recent experience compared to other bakeries in Edinburgh. The main positive was the vegan banana & coconut cake which was lovely, but my cheese toastie was disappointingly pretty burnt. I know some people don’t mind it like this, but I’m not a fan. On top of this, the two waitresses seemed to have tension between each other & one seemed to be unaware that their tone towards the other wasn’t the friendliest in front of the customers, which affected the vibe for me.
Richard Lumgair★★★★★Very few places in Edinburgh offer organic bread and I’d say Archipelago takes first place! The wholemeal loaf, and the harvester loaf, were both sublime. Great for a sandwich on the day, and made lovely toast the following day. Keep up the good work.
Fern f★★★★★Pear and plum cake was divine in every way as were the cinnamon buns. Definitely my new go-to when in central Edit: I returned the next day to sample more of their bakes and can confirm the spanacopita (flaky spinach bake) tastes as good as it looks. The vegan sausage roll had a smoky chipotle flavour to it, crumbles as you break it up - was nice but not really my thing. We also tried the small jam almond cookies which were decadent and chewy
Filip Soszyński★★★★★Little bakery just off the heart of Edinburgh. Lovely service, and great food. Had a scone with jam and a home baked sourdough toast with cheese and apple chutney accompanied by some premium orange juice. Reasonable prices for great food.
